THE HISTORY of a church in Annesley Woodhouse that is celebrating its 125th anniversary was the focus of an open day to honour the landmark.
The first stones of the Forest Road Methodist Church were laid on March 29 1887.
Now congregation members are looking forward to a year of celebration that will include a special service at the church on Sunday July 22.
But things kicked off with the open day last weekend when villagers were invited along to share their memories of living in Annesley Woodhouse.
Visitors were encouraged to take photographs from the past. There was also an opportunity to talk with local community groups.
The church, which is a hive of activity, is home to several organisations — from a lunch club to a ladies’ group.
