Community gardens need help

AN APPEAL has been launched for volunteers to help set up, maintain and develop community gardens, allotments and green spaces in Bulwell and the rest of Nottingham.

The charity, the Partnership Council, has been given the go-ahead to continue running its Green Power Team — thanks to a funding boost.

The initiative, which was launched last year, has made a big difference to a succession of projects, including the Bulwell Hall Community Garden.

Now the garden wants fresh blood to take on tasks ranging from preparing the soil for planting to building wooden planters and raised beds, pruning and harvesting fruit and vegetables.

Dori Kirchmair, of the Partnership Council, said: “Many of us know just how rewarding and therapeutic gardening can be as a hobby, so imagine the enjoyment to be had from working alongside other amateur gardeners in a space created for the whole community.”

Anyone interested in taking part should call Dori on 0115 970 8200 or e-mail dori@partnershipcouncil.co.uk.
