VISITORS to a children’s centre in Hucknall last weekend would have been forgiven for thinking they had stumbled on a mini-version of Hawaii.
For a summer fair staged at the SureStart Butlers Hill and Broomhill Road venue was inspired by the holiday hotspot in the USA.
A star attraction was a mini-beach created for the day where youngsters could build sandcastles.
There were also able to try their hand at hula-hooping and more flexible revellers tested themselves in a limbo-dancing competition.
The event was mainly open to children under the age of five and their families with the aim of promoting fun play.
There was also a chance to tackle shelter-building and healthy eating was promoted with the help of fruit kebabs and smoothies.
Entry was free and a fundraising raffle and tombola were held.
