Courses to boost jobless

JOBSEEKERS in Bulwell are being offered hands-on support to help them secure fresh employment.

The Dispatch reported earlier this year that up to 28 applicants were vying for each job that became available in the town as unemployment, in light of the recession, hit locals hard.

Now New College Nottingham (ncn) is offering work clubs to give guidance on writing CVs, filling in application forms and completing online applications.

There is also help on writing covering letters, downloading your CV and making speculative approaches to companies.

The sessions are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Red Lion Community Centre on Coventry Road, and on Fridays at the Healthy Living Centre on Lawton Drive.

Ncn is also offering day and evening courses at Hucknall College from next month to introduce beginners to computer technology.

The sessions will cover understanding basic equipment through to dealing with the Internet. The day courses at the Portland Road venue start on Tuesday November 1 and Friday November 4, while evening sessions launch on Wednesday November 2.
