A DATE with destiny awaits two starlet singers with connections to the Dispatch district this weekend when they fight it out for a record deal in the final of a national competition.
Thirteen-year-old Zenani Thomas, who went to school in Hucknall, and Rosanna O’Brien (16), who grew up in Bulwell, are through to the final of the prestigious Open Mic UK contest.
They will take to the stage at the world-renowned O2 Arena in London on Saturday (January 21).
The talented starlets will be up against each other — and some of the country’s best young musicians — in the 16-and-under category.
The ultimate prize up for grabs is a record deal with more than £30,000 worth of backing from a record company.
Zenani went to Holy Cross Roman Catholic School and now lives in Redhill, while Rosanna was a former member of Bulwell St Mary’s Guides.
Both will perform in front of industry judges from national radio, BBC Introducing (an initiative set up to showcase new talent), celebrity judges and a big audience of up to 2,000 fans.
You too can have your say on who wins by casting your vote for either Zenani or Rosanna.
