Disney prizes leave colouring youngster happy

THERE was nothing Mickey Mouse about the way a travel agency brought a touch of the USA to Bulwell as part of an international-themed event.

For the attraction at Co-operative Travel coincided with a colouring competition for children that focused on Disney.

The branch, which is within the Wilkinson store on Main Street, is part of the Thomas Cook group, which was behind the ‘Round The World’ Showcase.

Youngsters were challenged to pick a colouring sheet of their choice, featuring some of Disney’s most popular characters — from Buzz Lightyear and ‘Cars’ favourite Lightning McQueen to Winnie The Pooh and Minnie Mouse.

The winner was nine-year-old Char-Leigh Harris, who scooped a Disney goody-bag that included Minnie Mouse ears, Disney felt-tip pens, a Disney princess container full of mini-Easter eggs and a journal.

Manager Jayne Jones said: “With us focusing on the USA, a Disney theme for the colouring competition was the ideal choice, with Disney World being based in Florida.

“We also decorated the store with a star-spangled banner, and I think the children did a brilliant job of their pictures.”
