A dispersal order that stops car cruisers from meeting up around Sherwood Business Park in Annesley has been welcomed by residents.
The new order was secured by Nottinghamshire Police and Ashfield District Council and came into place on 1st June.
It means that people who race cars in the area can be moved on by police - and could face a £2,500 fine or a three-month prison sentence.
The order runs until 31st October and covers the A611 bypass, the A608, slip roads to the M1 at junction 27, and roads and parking areas within Sherwood Business Park.
Sergeant Simon Scales said racing cars was very dangerous for all road users and creates a lot of noise: “I hope this sends out the right message that we will work alongside residents to make our communities safe and pleasant places to live.”
Peter Olko, chairman of residents’ group ACCESS said he was ‘thankful on behalf of residents that it’s been brought in’.
