Best friends Caroline Lunness and Kelly Hallam have vowed to bring a popular Skegby pub back with a bang.

The Rifle Volunteer on Forest Road, Skegby, which is owned by Punch Taverns, welcomes duo Caroline Lunness and Kelly Hallam as the new landlords.

Caroline 34 from Mansfield and Kelly, 30 who hails from Clipstone, are already serving behind the bar of the pub on Forest Road.

Caroline said: “The pub has seen a number of change of hands and were here to stay with a number of events planned.

“We spent a solid week cleaning and decorating and we aim to bring it back to the amazing pub it was.”

Caroline added: “Some people thought we were a couple - we both have male partners - but we are independent business women and our other halves don’t have anything to do with running the pub.

Kelly has run a pub before and I have a property business .

“We have consulted the locals and aim to create a true community pub with lots of events and activities.

“This used to be a great pub and we aim to bring it back to life.”
