It’s celebration time for learners from across the Hucknall area tomorrow.
Hucknall Children’s Centre, run by Nottinghamshire Children and Families Partnership (NCFP), a partnership consisting of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, Family Action and North Notts College, have organised an annual learning celebration and showcase event.
A number of learners from across Hucknall and surrounding areas will be celebrating their achievements over the past year.
The annual event will bring together local parents who have taken time out of their busy life to learn a new skill, increase their confidence and to meet new people by enrolling on both accredited and non-accredited adult learning courses.
Councillor John Wilmott will present all learners with a certificate of achievement and special awards will be made to learners who have made outstanding achievements over the last year.
The event will also play host to New College Nottingham, Personal Learning Consultancy, Access Training and Nottinghamshire County Council’s Adult and Community Learning Service who currently fund many of the courses on offer at the Children’s Centre.
It will provide the opportunity for learners and partners to find out more about what else is on offer outside of the centre.
Around 70 learners and their families have been invited to the event and will be treated to a disco, buffet and a selection of activities for the children to enjoy including jewellery making and face painting.
Michelle Squires, Community Development Worker at the Children’s Centre said: “It’s really important to hold this annual event, to recognise how much people can achieve, especially when they’re busy bringing up young families and often working part-time.
“Lots of people I come across didn’t like school or left without many qualifications so it’s vital that these people are given a second chance to prove to themselves that they are capable and are better equipped to support their own children and themselves in the world of work.”
