BULWELL groups dared to enter the Dragons’ Den — and came out unscathed with grants to fire new life into community projects.
A total of 12 organisations took part in a showcase evening to bid for cash along the format of the hit BBC TV show, ‘Dragons’ Den’.
The town’s Labour members of Nottingham City Council — three who represent Bulwell Forest ward and three who represent Bulwell ward — were in control.
Each group gave a presentation of their ideas, which ranged from a party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to support for a local baseball team.
Councillors, who acted as the ‘Dragons’, and the audience, then voted on who they would like to receive the cash.
Three winners from each ward then received a grant of £500 each from a funding pot designed to benefit the local community.
The innovative event was held at the new Bulwell Riverside centre on Coventry Road.
