EXCITED children became kings and queens for the day during a fun-filled day to mark the Diamond Jubilee at Hawthorne Primary School in Bestwood Village.
Youngsters pulled on regal robes and proudly wore home-made crowns for the celebration at the school on School Walk.
Several wore masks to transform themselves into Prince Charles, the Queen and Princes Harry and William. Others dressed up as royals from the past.
But some were a bit more ingenious in their costumes. For there was also a Queen Cleopatra and a ‘Queen Of Hearts’.
In total, more than 150 children and staff dressed up. Parents who took part wore patriotic red, white and blue.
There was also a street party, with food suplied by the school’s parent and teacher association (PTA).
Head teacher Moira Cordon said: “Everyone was in high spirits. It was a wonderful celebration.”
