A FORMER police inspector at Hucknall has been promoted to a position as one of Nottinghamshire’s top cops.
CHIEF SUPT AK KHAN (pictured) was chief of the Hucknall force in the early 1990s.
But now he has taken up a role as commander for the county division, which covers Hucknall, the rest of Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Sherwood, Newark and Mansfield.
He takes over from Chief Supt Dave Wakelin, who retired last month after 30 years with the force.
Chief Supt Khan will be based at Mansfield police station. He says he wants to focus on public safety and perceptions and confidence in his officers among local residents
“Policing is about making sure the public are safe, but also about making them feel safe,” he said.
