Finnish firm spruces up village

GREEN-fingered volunteers from Bulwell-based firm Fiskars handed over garden tools as part of a bid to spruce up Bestwood Village.

The presentation of tools came after employees from the Finnish garden tools manufacturer volunteered their time to help tidy up the grounds at St Mark’s Church in the village.

Church secretary Jack Ashworth received the tools and said they were a big help. “Though we do our best to keep the frontage looking reasonable, nettles and weeds grow in abundance at the rear of the church,” said Jack.

“I got in touch with Fiskars, whose employees spent a morning cutting down nettles and weeds, untidy growth and raking up greenery. Paths that were previously overgrown and hidden are now usable again. Thanks to Fiskars, we now have the tools to help keep the area under control in the future.”
