WORSHIPPERS and supporters of Hucknall’s Seymour Road Baptist Church showcased their talents during a two-day flower festival and harvest celebration with the theme ‘How Does Your Garden Grow?’.

The event made a big impression on visitors and provided a landmark occasion for vicar, the Rev Vanessa Hollingworth, for the event coincided with her tenth anniversary of taking over at the church.

Vanessa, along with church stalwart Nova Haskey, was a driving force behind the harvest flower festival.

But the contributions of their team of creative arrangers and unsung heroes behind the scenes ensured its success.

Inside the church visitors marvelled at a host of dazzling floral displays and arrangements depicting spring, summer, autumn and winter.

And outside, the church’s ‘community market place’ attracted brisk business with members of the public paying just £1 to run a stall and pocket their profits.

In the main hall, visitors took advantage of an opportunity to sample a wide-range of foods and browse displays of clothing, attic treasures and books.

There was also a guess-the-weight-of-the-cake game and a tombola.

Mrs Hollingworth praised everyone who played a part and said: “Teamwork, togetherness, friendship and community spirit were the ingredients of the event.”
