A FOOTBALL match between staff from a network of colleges and a Hucknall Town team has hit the back of the net for two charities with strong connections to the Dispatch district.
The clash saw The Yellows run out 6-3 winners at their Watnall Road ground against a side from New College Nottingham (ncn), which runs Hucknall College on Portland Road.
But the real winners on the day were When You Wish Upon A Star and the Nottingham Regional Society for Adults and Children with Autism (NORSACA), who will share the £300 collected.
When You Wish Upon A Star specialises in making the dreams of severely-ill children come true. Its annual trip to take youngsters to meet Santa in Lapland has included several children from the Dispatch district.
NORSACA, which is based in Bestwood Village, runs several specialist schools throughout the county.
The special football match included a prize raffle, the auction of a Nottingham Forest shirt, signed by Reds player Paul Anderson, a spectators’ crossbar-challenge and a special cheerleading routine by the Nottingham Wildcats basketball team.
Ncn lecturer Mark Duncan said: “The game was great fun and an excellent way to raise valuable funds for two very worthy causes. Thankyou to everyone who supported us.”
