FAMILY enjoyment was the name of the game during a thrill-a-minute fun day held in Hucknall.

More than 300 locals flocked to the adiZone outdoor play and fitness area at the Albert Street Recreation Ground.

The event was organised by Ashfield District Council and coincided with National Family Week.

Youngsters got to grips with a climbing wall, made masks, tried out play equipment and took part in story-telling and teepee-making. Notts County Council’s youth bus, complete with games consoles, was on site, while healthy-eating mascot, Peggy Pineapple, met visitors.

The Hucknall-based Let’s Dance studio performed African tribal dances. There was also an open day at the nearby Hucknall Leisure Centre.

Carol Hallam, a sports development officer with Ashfield Council, said: “There was a real family atmosphere. Everyone got involved and had a go at the activities.”

The day was also part of Activate Ashfield — a campaign designed to get locals active.
