A CARER with working roots in Hucknall has received a top award from former ‘Eastenders’ star Martin Kemp.
GEMMA WHITING is branch manager for a supported living organisation, Social Care Solutions, which caters for adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and conditions including autism.
Now she has scooped the Frontline Leaders prize at the Great East Midlands Care Awards held at The Belfry Hotel, Nottingham.
The awards are part of the Great British Care Awards organised by ‘Care Talk’ magazine. The winner of each regional award will go forward to the national event to be held in London in 2013.
Gemma was recognised for, among other things, establishing a new office in Hucknall, having worked with her operations director to win preferred provider status with Notts County Council.
The Hucknall office now supports 22 service users, employs 29 staff and provides over 560 hours of support per week.
Mark Constant, Managing Director of Social Care Solutions said: “Gemma was instrumental in setting up our Hucknall office which has gone from strength to strength over the last year.”
