A FEAST of dance is set to glide on to stage for a special show starring students from a Hucknall school working towards exam success.
Fifteen and 16-year-old girls at Holgate Comprehensive will lay on a dance showcase on Thursday March 8 at the school’s hall, off Hillcrest Drive.
It is designed to offer last-minute feedback on pieces they have created for their upcoming GCSE exams at the end of March.
Friends, family and teachers will be among the audience to offer a critique of the performances.
In total, 16 exam-students will present pieces inspired by photographs, art, iconic images or even quotes.
For example, one piece is based on a line from the Harry Potter films.
The evening will be bolstered by dozens of performances from younger dancers from the school, which has a specialist status in dance, drama and the arts. In total, 70 dancers will take part.
Dance teacher Georgina Grimshaw, who is herself an ex-Holgate pupil, said: “Everyone is very excited.
“The event gives an opportunity for the students to perform and then make adjustments to their pieces, if necessary, before the exams.
“This is the second year we have put on the showcase and it works very well.”
The pieces to be performed by the GCSE students have been choreographed from scratch as coursework for their exams.
Everything is their own work — from the moves incorporated to the choice of music.
Tickets for the showcase are available from the school or Hucknall Library.
