Accrington Stanley are aiming for a fourth consecutive League win when they take on goal-shy Mansfield Town tonight (Tuesday, 7.30pm).
Adam Murray’s men have not won in four League games and not scored in 451 minutes of football, but a win tomorrow would see them leapfrog 10th-placed Stanley and lift a lot of pressure - and their away form has been good.
Ahead of the game Stanley boss John Coleman said: “You obviously want to make your home ground a fortress but you also have to enthuse your home crowd.
“You’ve got to get them so that they play a part in it and the only way to do that is to excite them, play on the front foot and have the ball in the other team’s last third.
“It becomes a chicken and egg situation; you need the crowd to help up your game but you have to up your game to get the crowd going. It’s difficult but certainly do-able and it’s something we’ve done in the past so I think we can do it again.”
Coleman added: “When you have the numbers that we have as opposed to 20 or 30 thousand it’s crucial that they’re onside and behind you and making it intimidating for the opposition straight away.
“To be fair our fans are good in that respect, they don’t get on players’ backs and they don’t moan and groan too much.
“We’re not getting carried away and we all know we need to improve. We’re starting to defend better and that’s good because defending cost us games earlier in the season. We need to keep that up.”
So far Exeter and Morecambe have left Accrington with all three points.
Coleman will be without midfielder Scott Brown for the visit of the Stags after he was sent off for a second bookable offence against Colchester at the weekend.
Accrington ended up doing the double over Stags last season.
The match at the Wham Stadium ended 1-0 in favour of the Lancashire side then, Accrington came out on top of a thrilling 3-2 scoreline at One Call Stadium in January this year.
Stags did not hold a press conference before the Accrington game, but it is not expected that any of injured trio George Taft, Kyles Howkins or Jack Thomas will be fit.
