Mansfield’s Crematorium and its four cemeteries in the district have achieved gold awards for their responsive and caring approach to helping the bereaved.

The accreditations have been awarded under the Charter for the Bereaved, a scheme run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management.

Portfolio holder for the Environment, Councillor Andrew Tristram congratulated the teams on achieving a gold standard of service.

He said: “It is an area of service that the public perhaps do not like to think about too much but the quality of these services makes a big difference to people at a vulnerable time so it is very gratifying that in Mansfield we provide services at our crematorium and cemeteries that have been judged to meet the highest standards.”

Mansfield’s cemeteries in Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Warsop and Pleasley Hill, which are run by Mansfield District Council, were among 37 teams to achieve the gold award. The crematorium, run jointly by Mansfield District, Ashfield District and Newark and Sherwood District Councils, was among 47 teams in the country to be awarded gold for its service.
