The immense talents of more than 50 Year 6 pupils at Hempshill Hall Primary shone through during four specially adapted performances of the evergreen musical Grease.
Produced by school secretary Rosemary Lishman and aided by teaching colleague and musical director Jo Needham, the show hit the heights, with principals Maggie Wild and Alex Frith in top form as High School sweethearts Sandy and Danny.
Set in the fictional realms of Hempshill High, this all singing all dancing production was a wow with parents and pupils.
Filled with magic moments this refreshing school production owed much to teamwork and the casting of pupils who are destined to tread the boards in the future. The fabulous Pink Ladies led by Niamh Mason as Rizzo and Lauren Witts in the part of Frenchie ,were two for example while Ben Peet in the role of T-Gang leader Kenickie, made a big impression,as did Thomas Wilson in the guise of College Principal Miss Lynch and Miya Rose-Mcdonald who shone as her infuriating secretary Blanche.

A fabulous finale number “Greased Lightning, and the show’s big numbers including “Summer Loving” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You” added to the enjoyment of a show that earned “top marks” from one and all.
Delighted by its success Headteacher Helen Ridge heaped praise on the performers and the expertise of Mrs.Lishman and Mrs.Needham.
“We are blessed with some very talented pupils and a team of adults who bring out the best in them”she said.
