THE ALL-male East Midlands Barbershop Harmony Club, who boast members from the Dispatch district, are celebrating 21 years of award-winning singing.
The group, who perform as the Grand Central Chorus, are marking their anniversary with a celebration concert at the Derby Theatre, Westfield, Derby on Saturday March 10.
Dedicated members have been rehearsing at their headquarters at Harrington Junior School in Long Eaton.
They will be joined on stage by Dale Diva, a ladies’ chorus who won the Channel Five talent show, ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, the Great British Barbershop Boys and Yesteryear — a 13-strong group of men who will also provide the presenter for the evening, Len Matthews. Tickets are on sale now.
Meanwhile the group are also on the lookout for members. Since being formed in 1991, the Grand Central Chorus have won the British Championships on four occasions and never placed outside the top six.
They have made it to the final of the Sainsbury’s/BBC Choir Of The Year contest three times.
