A neighbourhood plan giving Awsworth folk greater say about planning matters is set to be established as room for up to 300 new dwellings is sought over the next 13 years.
Awsworth Parish Council (APC)is calling for people to submit their views after it submitted an application to Broxtowe Borough Council for the plan on September 7.
APC vice chair Michael Smith said: “Perhaps the most important element of neighbourhood planning is that extensive consultation with and involvement by community residents and local groups takes place during the process of creating the plan.
“We very much hope that all members of the community will begin to formulate their own views about how Awsworth should develop in the future.
“Questions will be asked of you during the coming months and your responses and input will heavily influence the outcome.”
Coun Smith warned the development and consultation period for the plan could take between 12 to 18 months.
Residents can have their say with an online consultation at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplans.
The consultation runs until 5pm on Monday, November 2.
Paper copies of response forms are available from the parish council or Broxtowe Borough Council offices.
The application follows those made by Brinsley Parish Council, Eastwood Town Council, Greasley Parish Council, Nuthall Parish Council and Stapleford Town Council.
Kimberley Town Council’s application will be considered on October 28.
