A Hucknall mother who founded a cleaning company that has flourished despite the economic downturn has been shortlisted for a prestigious business award.
Heidi Butcher founded Dust and Polish Cleaners 13 years ago, after working for Fabric Warehouse and while working as a part-time fire-fighter. The firm now employs ten people and has over 100 clients.
She entered the Mumpreneur competition and has reached the final 60 of over 3,000 entries. She is in the Boost category, which is open to businesses that bucked the trend during the recession and expanded their market, product range or business size.
Heidi said: “The business has gone from strength to strength. We have got a really good, really strong team and I am really pleased with them. They are all fantastic! We have been established 13 years and has grown just from word of mouth. We have a good reliable team. We are not a franchise and have built our clientele through sheer hard work and recommendation. I left the fire bridgade after nearly 10 years of service as found it imposible to be a full time mum, part time firefighter and running a business.”
She built the business up after hand-delivering over 4,000 leaflets and operates within a ten miles radius of Hucknall. Heidi’s daughter, Connie, is now aged three. Heidi (37) says she hopes to d organise the business into districts with their own supervisors. She said: “Once Connie is at school I want the chance to take over Nottinghamshire!”
