LONG-running Basford Register Office, based in Bulwell, is still open for business —despite rumours that it has shut up shop.
A restructure in the office on Highbury Road meant it closed to weddings and civil partnerships, but all other services are still available.
“We have noticed a real drop in certificate sales and we are aware that some people are under the impression that we have closed,” said Mirek Rus, records manager.
“We no longer perform ceremonies here, but we do still offer an important service for anyone needing a replacement certificate or who is researching their family tree.
“We are, of course, also still here helping couples wanting to book their marriage or civil partnership at any of our approved premises.”
The office is run by Notts County Council and can replace any lost certificates and welcomes enquiries from the public.
The office is open Mondays to Thursdays, between 9 am and 4.30 pm or Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm.
It does however only open between 2 pm and 4.30 pm on the first Thursday of every month.
