HOMES were targeted in an alarming spate of overnight burglaries in Hucknall.
Five break-ins happened within just a few hours between 8 pm on Monday (April 2) and 6 am on Tuesday (April 3).
Now the crimewave has sparked an appeal from detectives in a bid to track down the burglars.
One of the first houses targeted was on Bolingey Way, where a laptop was stolen. The computer was later recovered.
There were also break-ins at homes on Badger Close, Carlingford Road, Palmer Avenue and Hankin Street, all of which are believed to have happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
Nothing was stolen from these properties, but officers have established that the offenders got in through insecure doors and windows.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or has any information about the break-ins.
They should call Ashfield South CID on 101 (extension 804 4733), or Ashfield North CID on 101 (extension 806 3732).
Alternatively, call the free and confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
In the meantime, residents are reminded to ensure that doors and windows are kept securely locked at night.
Officers have also given out a range of safety tips. These include making sure that doors are locked, even when someone is in the house during the day.
