BRAVE patients of Bulwell’s Highbury Hospital, who are battling against mental illness, have played a part in an inspiring photographic exhibition.
A group from the hospital on Highbury Road were previously invited to learn a range of new skills on a camera course, laid on by the Nottingham Photographers’ hub.
Patients on recovery wards at the hospital attended ten sessions. They were taught how to get the best from their digital cameras and then worked on capturing good portrait and landscape shots.
They also learned to set up still-life photos and how to frame pictures as part of the course, which was funded by the European Social Fund.
The results of their efforts have now been displayed at a showcase exhibition entitled ‘From Negatives To Positives’ at the Nottingham Society Of Artists base on Friar Lane, Nottingham. Photographs on show ranged from shots of nature to pictures of people in everyday life.
