Mansfield District Council is looking for people to join its Housing Panel to scrutinise the council’s performance and give views on the way the council runs its housing service.
The Housing Panel is a voluntary group made up of tenants and residents. The group meets monthly and expenses are paid. Full training and support are provided. To become a panel member you need:
A basic knowledge or an interest in how housing services are delivered
The ability to challenge opinions and be challenged
The ability to work as part of a team
Must be aged 18 or over
Ajman Ali, corporate director of housing and environment, said: “This is an important opportunity for tenants and residents to become involved in looking at our housing services and our performance.
“This role is about shaping the way we provide the housing service and having a say in the way the Council involves tenants and residents, making sure the quality of homes we provide are good and that repairs and maintenance are carried out effectively, as well as ensuring that local neighbourhoods are well looked after.
“Above all, the role of the Panel Member is to help us drive continuous improvements for the benefit of tenants and residents. So, if you feel that you can give up a small proportion of your time, we would love to hear from you.
“You will find the role extremely rewarding and will be helping to run a multi million pound service, as well as making a difference to the lives of thousands of residents. We welcome all sorts of skills and abilities and provide full training.”
