Hucknall group pays tribute to council officer

This week’s meeting of Hucknall Partnership Group began with a minute’s silence for Notts County Council’s community engagement officer, David Parker.

Mr Parker (54) died from a heart attack on Saturday 26th October.

A county council spokesman said: “David worked tirelessly over the past 12 years for the benefit of the community and voluntary sector in Hucknall and other parts of Ashfield.

“He became known by groups as a real ally who could be relied to go the extra mile.”

Mr Parker began his county council career working from the Under One Roof building in Hucknall.

He continued to be a true advocate for dozens of charities and voluntary groups in the town.

Brenda Shelbourne, chairman of the Partnership Group, paid tribute to Mr Parker at the start of this week’s meeting.

She said: “David’s caring approach and enthusiasm will be missed by the many organisations he has helped over the years. His heart was in the community and we will all miss him greatly.”

The group made a £25 donation to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
