Parents of pupils who are due to start secondary school in Nottinghamshire in September 2013 are reminded that they have limited time left to make their applications for a place if they have not yet done so.
The application process for children transferring from primary schools to secondary schools in the county in September 2013 will close on Wednesday, 31 October 2012.
The council’s committee chairman for children and young people’s services Coun Philip Owen said: “It is crucial that parents apply on time and the best way to apply for a school place is online.
“This means that parents can make changes to their application right up to the closing date if they need to and that they will receive news of the outcome of their application before those who apply by post.
“We also recommend that people use all four preferences and that at least one of the preferences on the application should be for a school where they are sure that their child will meet one of the higher criteria for admission.”
Offers of places will be made on Friday, 1 March 2013 by email to those who apply online. Parents and carers who apply by post will be sent notification by second class post that day.
