An outing for six people from Hucknall Probus Club made for an ap-pealing experience.
They joined with a party of 22 from Eastwood Probus Club for a visit to Taylor’s Bell Foundry and Museum in Loughborough.
This is the largest bell foundry in the world and one of only two in Britain.
The firm has cast bells for more than 200 years. These include Great Paul in St Paul’s Cathedral, which is the largest in the British Isles, weighing more than 16 tonnes.
The visitors were given a guided tour of the foundry and shown how bells are cast, inscribed and fitted.
Five generations of the Taylor family have owned the foundry and bells made there are exported to countries which include America, Australia and South Africa.
