TWO Hucknall construction students are celebrating success following an award ceremony at New College Nottingham (ncn).

At the annual awards event, held at Notts County Football Club, the top 40 students/trainees were praised for their efforts and recognised for their hard work and commitment.

They included IAN KNIGHT (25), who received the Steed Cup for carpentry and joinery and 17 year-old LUKE EVANS, who took home the Englender Cup for multi-skills.

“I didn’t expect to win but I’m proud that my ability stood out,” said Ian. “It’s a good feeling to have your hard work recognised.

“I’m really enjoying the course and I’m looking forward to developing my skills further as I progress to Level 2 at ncn.”

Shaun Hunt, ncn director of construction, sustainability and environmental services, said: “The college takes great pride in our student successes.

“Our annual awards presentation is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with those who have excelled in their chosen field, and to thank companies, managing agents and sponsors for their support.”

Each awardee received a certificate, trophy and industry-sponsored prize.
