A Bulwell man who made indecent phone calls to six women while under the influence of drugs has been spared jail.

John Golding, 56, of Thorner Close, admitted making the calls contrary to the Malicious Communications Act 1988 over three days in September.

He also admitted possessing amphetamine.

Magistrates sentenced him to 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

Frightened regulars at a Bulwell pub raised the alarm when a drunk man appeared with a large axe.

Craig Ian Beeson, 31, of Bethnall Walk, Bulwell, admitted carrying the axe at the Top House pub, on Bardney Drive, on June 7 this year.

Nottingham magistrates sentenced him to 20 weeks in prison and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £100 and a courts charge of £180.
