Inspirational King's Mill Hospital surgeon wins top new award
Susan Ward, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at, was the winner of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) National Trainer of the Year Award – a new mark of recognition presented for the first time this year.
The award is given to individuals who go above and beyond to contribute to the teaching and mentoring junior doctors who are preparing for careers in women’s health.

Hide AdSusan who is also Head of School for the East Midlands Deanery, said: “I am delighted to win this award.
“It is just as important to teach the next generation of doctors as it is to do the job well yourself, and this award has encouraged me immensely.”
Miss Ward, who was presented with her award recently at the RCOG, was chosen to receive the accolade for her outstanding contribution to education and training.
She is heavily involved in career support and teaching and is held in very high esteem; inspiring many young doctors and students to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Hide AdWith a tireless dedication to improving healthcare services for women, Miss Ward’s past accomplishments include establishing a formal teaching programme in obstetrics and gynaecology at King’s Mill Hospital and developing a quality-assured programme for junior doctors training at 11 hospitals in the East Midlands.
