Youngster Zak Frisby, who could be a swimming legend of the future, certainly has a heart of gold - and now has a national award to prove it is the case.
Hucknall youngster Zak raised more than £6,000 for Caudwell House children’s home in Southwell when he swam 100 lengths in 100 minutes at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
Zak was nominated in the Amateur Swimming Association’s Swimtastic Awards 2014.
And Zak, who attends Leen Mills Primary School, took the Fundraiser of the Year accolade for his efforts, which were in memory of his aunt.
Mum Kerry Townsend yesterday told the Dispatch: “It was one of our proudest moment.
“We really didn’t think he would get gold.
“We were just so happy that he had been nominated for an award.”
And she added: “His determination and commitment in achieving his goal has been amazing and beyond the expectations of our seven year old son.”
