A HUCKNALL woman has taken her career to the next level — after winning recognition at an awards ceremony for learning how to operate an imposing piece of machinery.
Marina Aldred was a runner-up in the Nottingham Training Network Awards.
One of three finalists in the ‘train to gain’ category, she was chosen for completing a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level-two in plant operations.
The course taught her how to operate a JCB telehandler, which is a digger with a telescopic arm suitable for moving stock and supplies around and for collecting materials from height.
Marina, who works for Empire Concrete, of Wigwam Lane, Hucknall, received her training from Safety Problem Solutions (SPS), which is based on Benneworth Close in Hucknall and also has a training centre on Wigwam Lane.
Empire says that Marina already plays a key role in the company. Learning to operate the JCB had made her more versatile and a greater asset.
