A NEW service has been launched to find summer-holiday work-experience for teenagers in Hucknall and Bulwell to give them a boost when they get a job.
Education Business Futures, a not-for-profit business, has launched the initiative to match school-age students to a local business for two weeks.
The scheme has been created amid fears that, because of spending cuts, teenagers might miss out on traditional work-experience organised through schools in the future.
Matt Smart, a manager with Education Business Futures, said:
“It is so competitive at the moment for young people when they are seeking employment.
“Employers tell me constantly how they value real work-experience.
“By undertaking a placement during the summer, students can pick up key employability skills and a reference for future use.”
The service is available this summer with a fee payable by parents or carers.
