A Bulwell leisure centre is receiving further investment from Nottingham City Council.
Ken Martin Leisure Centre will receive a cash injection to upgrade facilities in the gym as part of a £725,000 boost to leisure across the district.
The Bulwell facility, based on Hucknall Lane, will benefit from an extended gym area which is due for completion at the end of May 2015.
Victoria Leisure Centre and Southglade will also be improved as part of the scheme.
Coun Dave Trimble, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “These are exciting developments for our leisure centres and hopefully this investment will be just the first of many.
“All of the developments have been based on consultations with current customers and comments received from around the facilities.”
The gym area at Ken Martin will expand by 30 per cent and customers will see 10 new pieces of equipment including Kinesis and a larger free weights area installed.
The council are encouraging more people to get fit and access the improved facilities.
Nottingham City Council Leisure Centres offer various memberships that cater to all age groups.
Having invested in these developments, customers will have a wider range of facilities to choose from as part of their membership.
