THE POPULAR minister at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Hucknall, THE REV DANIEL NJUGUNA, is to leave the town.

Mr Njuguna (pictured), who hails from Kenya, was ordained in 2000 and moved to England in 2002.

He was previously associate priest at St Giles’s Church, Balderton and All Saints Church, Barnby-in-the-Willows, both in the Newark area.

But he took on the top job at St Peter and St Paul’s on Ruffs Drive in 2006.

During his five years in Hucknall, Mr Njuguna has become an integral member of the Churches Together in Hucknall, Linby and Papplewick organisation.

But now he is to move to become vicar of Wednesbury in the Lichfield diocese in the West Midlands.

His last Sunday service at St Peter and St Paul’s will be on July 24 and he will be licensed in his new post on Monday August 22.

Mr Njuguna was born in the town of Nakuru in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. He is married to Anna and the couple have two sons, Leo (six) and Emil (four), who was born and bred in Hucknall.

“I will be very sad to leave the town,” said Mr Njuguna (37). “During my time in Hucknall, I have made some good friends. I will be leaving behind some very nice and wonderful friendships.”
