CHILDREN in Hucknall and the rest of Nottinghamshire are clamouring for books such as ‘The Gruffalo’ at libraries throughout the county.

A list of the most popular books among youngsters, including those who visit the library on Market Place, has been disclosed.

‘Kipper The Dog’, by Mick Inkpen, is top of the charts for board books among kids up to the age of five, while ‘The Gruffalo’, by Julia Donaldson, is the leading picture book for those aged up to seven.

‘Diary Of A Wimpy Kid’, by Jeff Kinney, is most popular among seven-to-nine-year olds, while nine-to-12-year-olds are drawn to ‘Tracey Beaker’, by Jacqueline Wilson. As for teen fiction, titles by Darren Shan top the rankings.
