Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sherwood Léonie Mathers met with apprentice Kiah Martin to hear about the importance of apprenticeships, this week.

Kiah Martin (17), who works at Avanti Hair in Hucknall, is studying for an NVQ level two at New College Nottingham. She said: “An apprenticeship is definitely the best way to train, I would recommend it to anyone.”

Ms Mathers said apprenticeship numbers had fallen compared to the previous year and pledged to take on an apprentice if elected in May. She said Labour will create at least 80,000 more high-quality training opportunities for young people every year.
