Youngsters joining the National Academy in Hucknall for the first time in September got a taste of what to expect on a week-long summer scheme.

The introduction to life at the ‘big school’ featured crime detection games, circus skills, sports and baking.

Administrator Paula Cook said: “Everyone got involved in learning a variety of skills, ranging from juggling and stilt walking to plate spinning. All pupils had fun participating in the activities and made new friends too. They all agreed that they felt much more confident about starting a new school.”

Pupils and parents saw a video of their escapades and gave presentations about their week.
