Loan limit placed on most popular library books

THE MOST popular books at Hucknall Library can now only be borrowed for up to a week as part of a scheme to allow more people to read them.

The Seven Day Chart Topper initiative has been introduced by Notts County Council at 12 libraries, including the one on Market Place.

A top ten of the favourite paperbacks is compiled and the charts will change regularly as more users take out certain books.

The aim is to cut down on waiting lists for the most popular books.

Peter Gaw, head of libraries at the county council, said: “We will be keeping a close eye on the feedback but we think it is a great way of improving access to books.”
