Armed-raid terror at care home
TARGETED -- the Jubilee Court care home in Hucknall, which was raided in the early hours of the morning
THE HUNT is on for a crowbar-wielding burglar who broke into a Hucknall care home in the early hours of the morning as elderly residents slept.
The raid happened at Jubilee Court, which is on the campus of the Holgate Comprehensive School on Nabbs Lane.
A masked man forced his way in through a back door just before 2 am.
He confronted frightened staff and made them open a safe before fleeing the home with an undisclosed quantity of cash in six metal cash-tins.
Now police have launched a hunt for the raider, who struck on Friday February 3.

Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they hope can help with the investigation.
The picture shows a man on a bicycle at the nearby Texaco petrol station on Hucknall bypass an hour before the robbery.
Images have also been released of the cash tins — three red and three black — taken in the raid. The man also escaped with a walkie-talkie, used by the home to communicate with staff and residents.
The offender is described as white, aged 20 to 30, 5’6” to 5’9” tall and of average build. The lower half of his face was covered and he wore a black hat with a peak at the front.
He was also wearing a dark jacket, with the word ‘America’ or ‘American’ emblazoned across the chest, and wore dark utility trousers with several pockets.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the break-in is asked to ring Hucknall police station on the non-emergency number of 101 (extension 804 4737). Alternatively, call the free and confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
