Blooming flower firm celebrate 21st birthday

THE EVER-blooming floristry business, Bunches, based in Newstead, are to celebrate their 21st birthday by rewarding some of their loyal customers.

The popular flowers-by-post firm, of Hazelford Way, started life in 1989 when Erik and Sandra Hoving began selling blooms from a cart in Mansfield's Four Seasons shopping centre.

But now they have become one of the nation's biggest flower companies with an annual turnover of more than 6.5 million. They deliver more than 400,000 bouquets across the UK every year.

To mark their 21st anniversary, Bunches are surprising 21 customers with luxury bouquets as a thankyou for contributing to their longevity.

At the helm of the firm now is Erik and Sandra's daughter, Danielle Turner.

She said: "We are very proud of what we have achieved over the past 21 years. Our success is thanks to our hard-working, dedicated in-house team and the ongoing support of our thousands of customers.

"Therefore, we are saying thankyou by sending some of our most loyal customers one of our platinum bouquets."

Although the recession has affected many local firms in the last year, Bunches experienced a 15% growth in 2009.

The company underwent a 1 million expansion in 2007 and have plans to increase their workforce by recruiting six full-time members of staff this year to cope with demand.

Danielle added: "Our philosophy is all about creating smiles and happy customers who will continue to order from us.

"We believe in keeping things simple by providing excellent customer-service and quality flowers at the right price.

"Using the same principle, we hope to continue our success for the next 21 years."

The Bunches birthday is not the only upcoming landmark for Danielle. For she and husband Mark are also expecting their first child in May.
