BREAKING NEWS: Police name schoolboy killed in crash

POLICE have named a 12-year-old schoolboy who has died after being involved in a crash with a van in Hucknall.

The youngster, Jeffrey Townley, was riding a pushbike when the collision happened.

Floral tributes have been left at the scene on Linby Road where the accident happened at 7.50 pm last Thursday — between Hucknall Leisure Centre and Church Lane.

The boy was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham in a critical condition.

It is understood that he died on Sunday.

The vehicle involved in the accident was a Peugeot van. The driver was not injured.

Police are appealing to any motorists, pedestrians or residents who saw the accident.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Det Con Katie Stokes, of the Nottinghamshire force’s crash investigation unit, on 101 (extension 800 2225).
