Drunk man swore at helpful cops
A BULWELL man swore at police officers who tried to help him when he got drunk in Hucknall town centre, Mansfield Magistrates Court heard.
William Rowley (37), of Robinsons Hill, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was given a conditional discharge for six months.
Neil Hollett (prosecuting) said Rowley was refused entry to a pub on Hucknall High Street at 11 pm on Friday October 23 because he was drunk.
Rowley, who was unable to stand, told the officers his name was Bill and that he lived "somewhere on Watnall Road".
He fell over, banging his head, and an ambulance was called. When a paramedic found he had no injuries, he was again asked for details of his address so that arrangements could be made to get him home. But he swore at the officers.
Rowley, who was not represented in court, told the magistrates: "I have a drink problem and I want to sort it out."
He said he was being helped by a community nurse and needed to stop drinking because he had a liver condition.
