HUCKNALL’S police team are leading the way when it comes to crime-fighting after producing better results than anywhere else in Nottinghamshire.

As the latest year on year figures are released, Hucknall’s results have come out on top across the whole county - which is good news for the town.

But Hucknall’s top cop Insp Nick Butler refuses to rest on his laurels and vows to continue the challenge to reduce crime still further across the district.

“I’m determined to bring crime down further,” said Insp Butler who has been heading up the team in Ashfield South for two years.

“Hucknall has suffered from a number of burglaries recently which we tackled using various resources and methods which proved successful.

“Burglaries have reduced by 12 per cent which means 24 less burglaries this year compared to last but it is still too high.

“This will continue to be one of the areas we focus on in the next 12 months as it can be one of the most devastating crimes a family can experience.”

Insp Butler puts much of his team’s success down to partnership working and community support.

“These figures are the result of hard work by everybody. Locals are the key to our success.

“However we won’t be complacent and will continue to relentlessly pursue criminals like a dog with a bone.”

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping, said: “I’ve got strong connections with Hucknall and am frequently there, so I know that in recent years the town centre has had a tough time. I’m therefore really pleased to see that crime is falling so dramatically. People in the area deserve to have safe homes and streets.”
