Hunt for prisoner on run for THREE months

A WIDESPREAD police manhunt is continuing for a Hucknall criminal — three months after he went on the run from an open prison.
Prolific burglar Glynn John Paul Brookes (38), whose last address was Annesley Road, was serving an eight-year jail sentence.
He was on a period of temporary leave from the North Sea Camp open prison near Boston, Lincolnshire in July but failed to return.
Brookes was convicted at Nottingham Crown Court in 2008 of ten break-ins.
During evidence, it was said he studied crime shows to learn police forensic techniques.
It was revealed that he admitted to police that he could have committed as many as 400 burglaries.
In court, Brookes was described as a one-man crimewave.
In passing sentence, Judge Michael Stokes said Brookes was a “persistent and professional burglar of other people’s homes”.
A police spokesman said he was “addicted to the thrill of burglary”.
He was caught after he dropped a torch at a house and was traced through his DNA.
Brookes is white and about 5’ 9” tall. He has mousey-coloured hair which was short at the time he went on the run.
The Dispatch reported on his disappearance when police originally broke the news.
A Nottinghamshire police spokesman said: “As far as we know, there have been no sightings of him since he absconded.
“But there is a good chance that he may have returned to the Hucknall area because of his connection with the town.”
