IDENTIFIED: woman killed in fire
THE woman who was killed in a raging fire that destroyed her home in Bulwell has been formally identified.
This photo has been released by the police of 54-year-old volunteer care worker Susie Southern, whose body was found on the first floor of the house on South Snape Close, Snape Wood.
The blaze engulfed the property in the early hours of last Thursday morning (June 25).
Investigators were unable to remove grandmother Mrs Southern's body until the next day because the building was in danger of collapse. And so a post-mortem was delayed.
However police have now formally named Mrs Southern. The post-mortem confirmed that she died of "fire-related injuries.
Mrs Southern was married to Tony (55), who managed to escape from the fire.
The couple have four daughters, Jeanette, Cheryl, Andrea and Elaine, plus several grandchildren.
WILLIAM Rowbotham (18), of Raymede Drive, Bestwood Estate, has been charged with Mrs Southern's murder.
He has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger the life of Mr Southern and burglary with intent to steal at another house on South Snape Close.
Rowbotham appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Monday (June 29) and has been remanded in custody.
A 35-year-old man, also arrested in connection with the blaze, remains on police bail pending further inquiries.
